Fair User Practice

To ensure User safety and fairness, Crowdwindow Ltd operates a number of Fair User Practice Guidelines and Principles.

1. Registered Sellers

In order to become a Seller on Crowdwindow, users must provide Name and Address Details during Registration and follow a Mobile Phone Number Verification process where they must enter a Code that is sent to their Phone Number.

In addition the Seller needs to have opened a Stripe Account which entails providing Name, Address, Phone Number and valid Identification documents such as proof of address and Photo ID.

2. Registered Bidders/Buyers

In order to bid or purchase any Items listed on Crowdwindow, users must provide Name and Address Details during Registration and follow a Mobile Phone Number Verification process where they must enter a Code that is sent to their Phone Number.

In addition Buyers must pay for the Item/s into Stripe, before the Item/s are handed over by the Seller.

3. Shill Bidding is Prohibited

Sellers are prohibited from bidding on their own Auctions, or the Auctions of someone connected to them and they must not have someone connected to them bid on their Auctions, which is called Shill Bidding.

The Crowdwindow platform system automatically blocks and prevents Sellers from placing bids on Items that have been submitted using their own User Accounts.

4. Anti-Sniping

The Crowdwindow platform system has several Anti-Sniping measures in place.

Auction Sniping is where a Bidder, makes a bid at the very last seconds of the Auction Period with a slightly higher amount than the previous Bid.

Overtime: The Crowdwindow platform system extends the Auction with an Overtime Period for 90 seconds if a bidder does make a bid in the last 60 seconds of an Auction Period, giving other bidders the chance to bid again and compete with any Snipers.

Of course, adding a single set Overtime Period to an Auction does not completely prevent Sniping, as Snipers may well simply wait until the end of the Overtime Period to make their final bid.

The Crowdwindow platform system goes some way towards eliminating Sniping, because Overtime can be repeated indefinately to allow bidding to carry on until no additional bids are received during an amount of time.

Auto Bidding: Bidders on Crowdwindow have the opportunity to use the Autobidding feature which can help to prevent Sniping.

Autobidding is a form of absentee bidding where bidding is carried out automatically by the system software. A bidder can specify a Maximum Bid Amount that they are willing to Bid and during the Auction Period the system software automatically outbids other users up until the specified Maximum Bid Amount has been exceeded.

Because other participants in the Auction are unaware of the Autobidding on behalf of the Bidder, it is unlikely a Sniper will be able to outbid them within the Maximum specified Bid Amount.

Reserve Price: Sellers on Crowdwindow can set a Reserve Price which prevents Snipers from winning their Auction for lower price than they want to sell Item/s for.

Buy Now: Sellers on Crowdwindow can enable the Buy Now option which can discourage Snipers, as potential Snipers are aware that at anytime during the Auction Period someone could buy the Item/s.
